CHOOSING THE INSTALLATION SITE OF THE EXTERIOR UNIT

Comply with the following recommendations when choosing the installation site of the exterior unit:
• Position the unit in a sufficiently centilated but sheltered place where it is not exposed to rainfall or direct sunlight.
• Position it in a place that is able to bear it and where vibrations and noise cannot be amplified.
• Position it so that the air flow and noise will not annoy the neighbours.
• Comply with a minimum distance between walls and furniture when positioning the unit, as indicated in Fig.1.
• If the unit is to be installed on the ground, make sure that water is unable to accumulate or drop on to the unit (from
gutters, etc.).
• In zones where snow is likely to fall or where the temperature remains below 0°C for long periods of time, the unit
should be mounted on a 20-30 cm cement base to prevent the snow from building up around the machine.
• During the winter period, heat pumps produce condensation that drops on to the bearing surface forming water
deposits that may sometimes become annoying and/or unpleasant. To prevent condensation from infiltrating where
it is not wanted, it is advisable to create an accumulation tank under the machine and to channel the condensation
towards a place where it can be disposed of.
The drawing on the right shows the minimum dis-
tances to allow around the machine.

If a roofing is installed, it must be higher than the
machine by at least ¾ of the height of the machine
itself.
NOTE: To ensure the ventilation required for correct
operation, the air conditioner must not be surroun-
ded by more than three walls.
Lift the unit with a fork lift truck during the installation phase. Keep the unit in a horizontal position without tilting it.
Once the unit has been positioned, remove the packing (Fig.2). High protection against the transmission of vibrations
is obtained by placing blocks of resilient material (neoprene, etc.) between the bearing feet of the machine and the
floor. A positioning layout for the vibration dampening supports is given for this purpose (Fig.3). Always consult spe-
cialized catalogues when choosing these components.
