CONNECTION PIPES

The pipes are wound and already flared at both ends. The dimensions
are those given in the "ACCESSORIES" section.
Route the coolant pipes according to installation requirements, making
the necessary curves in compliance with a minimum radius of curvature
to prevent them from being crushed. Remember that the bending radius
must not be less than 3.5 times the outer diameter of the tube (Fig.1).
If the installer does not wish to cut the excess pipe length (if any), this can
be woulkd maintaining the axis of the coils in a horizontal position.
Bear the following indications in mind when installing the pipes:
• Take care to unwind the pipe in the direction in which it was wound.
• Wrap the two pipes together with tape before passing them through the
holes in the wall to prevent the insulation from being damaged and dust
from infiltrating. To facilitate this operation, it is advisable to insert a
piece of PVC pipe the same length as the wall thickness and of a sui-
table diameter, through the hole in the wall.
If the pipes are longer than the effective requirements, they can be cut
and re-flared by operating in the following way:
1.Cut the pipe to the desired length using a pipe cutter (Fig.2) (the cut
must be horizontal).
2.Remove the burrs from the ends to avoid gas leaks (Fig.3).
3.Unscrew the union (1-Fig.4) from the three-way valve (2-Fig.4) and
insert it into the pipe.
4.Tighten the pipe (2-Fig.5) in a vice (1-Fig.5) and flare it (it is advisable
to add a drop of refrigerating oil between the rubbing parts).
The following results are obtained if flaring has been carried out correctly
(Fig.6):
- Smooth and mirrored surfaces.
- Smooth edges.
- Flared sides of uniform length.
NOTE: Take care to prevent swarf, dust or other impurities from dropp-
ping inside the pipes as these would clog the cooling circuit at capillary
level, causing the system to block or the compressor to seize.
