DESCRIPTION :
The mobile fall arrestor on flexible anchor line NSD16 is compliant with standard EN353-2:2002. It is
designed to be used as a component of a fall arrester system as defined by standard EN363, when
there is a risk of falling from a height. This device is designed to arrest an accidental fall of an individual
through its instantaneous locking function. This fall arrester comprises a sheathed and braided
polyamide rope of Ø11 mm NDRI that serves as the anchor line. A mobile opening locking mechanism
is mounted on the Ø11 mm rope. The locking mechanism is connected to the user's harness thorugh
an EN362 connector.
VERIFICATIONS :
- Before, during and after use, verify the proper condition of the equipment and the absence of faults
via a visual examination :
• Anchor line: verify the state of the rope, the absence of wear, cuts, fraying and signs of breakage. Check
the readability of the markings.
• Connectors: ensure that there is no apparent wear and tear, and verify the proper assembly.
• Safety seams: verify the absence of distended, worn or cut threads.
• Mobile fall arrester: verify that the fall arrester is properly positioned with respect to the anchor line
(#6.2). Verify that the fall arrester slides correctly, without any jerking, over the entire length of the
anchor line. Verify the functioning of the locking mechanism. Ensure that there are no traces of rust and
verify the readability of the markings.
- If there is any doubt on the reliability of the equipment, do not use it without getting the written
authorisation of a person who is authorised to decide on its reuse.
- During assembly with other safety components, check the compatibility of each of the components
and ensure that all the recommendations contained in the instructions of the products and the
applicable standards relating to the anti-fall system are applied. It is important to particularly ensure
that the safety function of any of the components is not affected by the safety function of another and
that they do not interfere with each other.
USE :
- For the installation of the NSD16 mobile fall arrester on the NDRI flexible anchor line, follow the
instructions:
1. Open the locking cam and the safety lever.
2. Position the fall arrester on the rope by passing the rope through the wireway of the fall arrester
provided for this purpose. Note the direction of use of the mobile fall arrester marked on the latter.
Reverse mounting is fatal.
3. Release the locking cam and the safety lever. They automatically hold the rope in position.
4. Connect an EN362 connector to the locking cam in the dedicated hole.
5. Check the operation of the NSD16 mobile fall arrester by sliding it upwards along the NDRI flexible
anchor line. Test the fall arrester lock by quickly tilting it downwards. The handling is done through the
connector EN362.
- Before every use, it is necessary to verify the clearance below the user's feet (#3).
- During use, verify that the mobile fall arrester slides correctly over the entire length of the flexible
anchor line. The presence of any slack in the rope could increase the height of a fall. This comment
is even more applicable when the user is close to the ground, where the mass of the free rope is the
least (#4-1).
