GENERAL FEATURES
1 - CONSTRUCTION
CHL NEOFEU load arrester is a complete automatic device using the latest mechanical techniques
which principals is been approved on thousands of devices now available worldwide. It is made of a
steel housing of esthetical color and shape and friendly user installation. The constituting parts so as the
dogs, dogs axles, ratchet, drum are made of high mechanical resistance steel and are all corrosion proof
and paint treated.
2 – OPERATING PRINCIPAL
CHL NEOFEU load arrester is made of a braking system including :
-
Two dogs mounted on free axles and a ratchet.
-
A spring adjusted according to the requested weight and speed.
At normal speed the elliptical shape of the dogs allows them to remain close to the ratchet. Shall an
acceleration occur, the dogs activate and lock immediately the cable and the load. The unwinding and
recoil tension of spring is ensured by a multi layer progressive torque spring according to the length of
cable unwind.
3 - INSTRUCTIONS-STORAGE-TRANSPORTATION
According to the model, NEOFEU CHL devices are packed in individual cardboard or pallet box which
must be opened only during the installation. They must be stored in a dry place with preferably
reasonable temperatures. For maintenance return to manufacturer or authorized agent, use the original
pack.
4 – MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

5 - INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOUNTING
For the anchorage of the device, see general plan.
It is forbidden to weld on the housing.
For any special adaptation contact us.
Mounting : Make sure the CHL unwinding of cable lines up with the axis of the load movement.
(maximum lateral movement 2°).
Anchorage : The structure intended to receive the load arrester must withstand the dynamic arrest
force in case of a fall (we recommend 6 times the static load).
The screws and bolts M20/250 must be of class 10/9, with a torque of 46 daN.m, with safety bolts.
Use only the fixing holes and all of them.
Once the device is set up make a functional test of cable unwinding (without the load). Once the cable is
completely unwind, check the total cable length is suitable with the working distance. Rewind the cable
smoothly under tension and check the rewinding is properly done ( if the cable rewinds on one side of
the drum, check the upright position of the device with the anchorage structure (lateral angle of the
cable with the anchorage structure (maximum lateral movement 2°).
Connect the load to the load arrester through a tested linking connector (meeting standard requirements).
Put into service the handling device of the load and check on several cycles.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATION : THIS DEVICE IS NOT INTENDED FOR PERSONAL FALL
ARREST, NOR FOR PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION/ELEVATION.
6 – OPERATING MODE
Once the device is properly installed and the connection with load achieved, the operation is completely
automatic (unwinding and rewinding of cable, locking in case of acceleration of the load).
Our load arresters are adjusted in our plant according to your requirements and on site do not need any
operation from you when in service.
NB : It is forbidden to use this device for loads which weight is superior to the maximum working load
capacity indicated on the device (refer to identification plate).
7 – SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
A) SERVICE
Our devices do not require any particular maintenance operation from the user.
However it is recommended before each use to check :
-
the anchor points
-
the structure
-
the cable (aspect)
-
the load anchor(age)
-
the marking
If any doubt on the above or on the serviceable and working conditions of the device, send it back to the
manufacturer or its authorized agent for inspection.
In case of a fall arrest of the load, send back the load arrester to the manufacturer or authorized agent for
inspection.
B) MAINTENANCE
A yearly inspection by the manufacturer or its authorized agent must be carried out. This inspection
required to send back the device to the manufacture or authorized agent (average inspection time needed
10 days).
Respect the local regulations in force.
8 - WARRANTY
The normal warranty of the device supplied by the seller against any manufacturing defects, adjustments
or assembly when achieved by the former is limited to maximum 6 months. In any case if the device is
used nights and days the warranty is automatically reduced to half. Seller's warranty is strictly limited to
its supply and can only results in repairs or replacement in due time at its own expenses in its workshop
of all spare parts admitted defective, the seller reserves the right to modify the devices in order to
comply with its warranty or to replace the defective parts. The parts replaced free of charge remain the
seller's ownership.
The warranty does not apply for the replacements or repairs that should result from normal wear of the
devices, or damage or accidents, hazards due to misuse, defect of inspection or maintenance and
abnormal use of the device.
Besides the possible specified penalties, no other compensation can be requested as damages for
whatever reason.
Repair, modification or replacement of spare parts during the warranty period do not result in the
extension of the warranty terms of the device.
