To clean the entire device, use a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild
soapy solution. Do not use any harsh cleaning products.
If prolonged storage is intended, you should remove the batteries.
The device must not be stored or used at an excessively high or low
temperature or humidity (see technical data), in sunlight, in association
with an electrical current or in dusty locations. Otherwise inaccuracies
can occur.

11. Disposal

• The empty, completely flat batteries must be disposed of through
specially designated collection boxes, recycling points or electronics
retailers. You are legally required to dispose of the batteries.
• The codes below are printed on batteries containing
harmful substances:
Pb = Battery contains lead,
Cd = Battery contains cadmium,
Hg = Battery contains mercury.
• For environmental reasons, do not dispose of the device in the
household waste at the end of its useful life. Dispose of the unit at a
suitable local collection or recycling point. Dispose of the de-
vice in accordance with EC Directive – WEEE (Waste Electri-
cal and Electronic Equipment). If you have any questions,
please contact the local authorities responsible for waste dis-
posal.

12. What if there are error messages?

Error message

The ambient temper-

10 °C and 40 °C (50

The device is not
working properly.
The device cannot be
switched on and will

°C (108.0 °F).
The measured tem-
perature is under 34

Battery low; further
measurements are not
possible.

Solution
Keep the ear thermome-
ter for at least 30 minutes
in a room at between 10
°C and 40 °C (50 °F and
104 °F).
Take out the battery, wait
for one minute and then
reinsert the battery. If the
message is shown again,
contact your retailer.
Insert a new battery.
Check whether the pro-
tective cover for the
measuring probe is dam-
aged and take a new tem-
perature measurement.
Check whether the pro-
tective cover for the
measuring probe is clean
and take a new tempera-
ture measurement.
Replace the battery.
