Intended use
The YARA and YARA NV full face masks are
accessories. They act as a sealing element
between the patient and the therapy unit, and
are used for the treatment of sleep apnea and
for the non-invasive ventilation of patients with
ventilatory insufficiency.
The YARA NV mask must only be used in
combination with ventilation devices that have
an active exhalation valve.
Before use by the patient
Patients must be instructed in the use of the mask
by qualified personnel before therapy begins.

2 Safety instructions
Safety regulations
Following the requirements of Directive 93/42
ECC please observe the following points:
•Please read these operating instructions
through carefully. They are a part of the
product and should be available at all times.
•Never use YARA if the anti-asphyxia valve is
damaged or missing, as this may lead to
increased CO
reinhalation if the therapy

unit fails.
•Never use YARA or YARA NV for patients
who are not able to remove it independently
or have a tendency to vomit. There is a risk
of asphyxia.
•Only use the YARA or YARA NV at therapy
pressures between 4 - 30 hPa or 4 - 40 hPa
(models YARA 40 hPa / YARA NV 40 hPa).
Otherwise it can lead to CO
or to leakages.
•Malfunctions and a lack of biocompatibility
may result if third-party articles are used.
Please bear in mind that in these cases any
warranty entitlement and liability shall lapse
where the accessories recommended in the
instructions for use or original spare parts are
not utilized.
•Patients with limited spontaneous respiration
must be monitored at all times. The
appropriate negative pressure/leak alarm
on the ventilation device must be activated.
•Patients with obstructive and restrictive lung
diseases should be examined on an
individual basis during use of the YARA or
YARA NV (e.g. with regard to the
reinhalation of CO
•Never close the opening of the anti-
asphyxia valve or the exhaled air system.
Otherwise there is a risk of reinhaling CO
and of asphyxia.
