System Overview
DL400 Introduction
The DL400 Letter Opener is a high speed envelope opener that can open and count
up to 400 envelopes per minute (processing speed depends on the length and
thickness of mail).
Cut/No Cut Function
The DL400 Letter Opener is able to count mail with or without cutting open the
envelope. This function can be selected by turning the Cut/No Cut Knob to the
desired position.
Counter Function
The counter displays the count for individual mail pieces processed whether in the
Cut or No Cut mode. If the machine is turned off (or power is lost), the count total
will be saved. Once the counter reset button is pressed, the previous count is lost.
The accuracy of the count can be affected by the condition of the mail and machine.
For a more accurate count a maximum stack height of 4cm is recommended.

DL400 Operation
Before commencing operation, please read the Safety document supplied with your
system.
1. Make sure the power cord is connected to the DL400 and the plug is securely
connected to the power receptacle.
NOTE: When first connected the Chip Bin Full indicator light will flash. Removal
and Replacement of the Chip Bin resets the indicator.
2. Select either the 'No Cut' or 'Cut' position on the Cut/No Cut Selector Knob as
required. See section Cut/No Cut Function for more information.
3. Set the Cutter Adjustment Lever to deep or shallow cut as required. This is
simply achieved via the lever. However, the cut depth can also be adjusted as
described in Cutter Adjustment in this document.
4. Press the Counter Reset button to reset the counter (if desired).
5. Load mail (approximately 50 pieces) onto the Envelope Feed Hopper. Ensure
that the mail is oriented with the side of the mail to be cut, against the back of
the Feed Hopper (See image below).
6. To begin operation turn the On/Off Power Switch to the On position.
7. Once the Envelope Feed Hopper is empty, empty the Envelope Catch Tray.
8. To continue processing, repeat the above steps.
