Installation Instructions:
1.) Release the spare wheel retainer and remove the spare wheel (the old spare wheel retainer
bolts are replaced by the spare wheel retainer bolts supplied). If a tread plate is fitted,
remove it. A special tread plate can be ordered from Daimler-Benz for fitting together with
the towing bracket.
2.) Hold the towing bracket between the frame side members and align holes „a" with the holes
in the side members. Insert the 8 M 10 hexagon bolts with 10.5-mm washers at positions
„a" from the outer side and bolt with the M 10 lock nuts.
The hexagon bolts are of strength class 10.9 and the hexagon nuts of strength class 10.
Tightening torque:
3.) Clamp the spare wheel using the spare wheel retainer bolts supplied and the old retaining
nuts.
The coupling ball with bracket or auto-locking towing attachment are fitted using M 10
hexagon bolts (strength class 8.8) and M 10 lock nuts (strength class 8 or 10).
Tightening torque:
Subject to change.
