NOISE LEVEL
The electric pump has a noise level of less than 70 dB(A) when submerged, with a level of less than 80 dB(A) in air.
HANDLING AND TRANSPORT
NEVER use the power supply cable or the ball cock cable to lift and handle the pump. Use the special lifting handle.
Visually check that the package and its content are intact and if they result seriously damaged contact Zenit staff immediately.
Check that the features given on the nameplate match those of the product purchased.
INSTALLATION
The pump must be lowered completely into the liquid using a rope or chain tied to the handle.
If the pump is installed inside a shaft, this must be large enough to allow the floating switch, if installed, to move freely. (Fig. 1)
The minimum recommended dimensions are provided in the "Overall Dimensions" section.
Warning
If the fluid level drops below the suction grid, there it will be an accumulation of air on the upper part of the electric pump that will cause malfunctions.
The pump may lose its own suction capacity and therefore, will be unable to reach the performance declared by the manufacturer.
To prevent air from entering the pump, it must always be operated with the intake strainer completely immersed in the liquid (Fig. 2).
Warning
Before installing and/or starting the pump after a long period out of use, check that the shaft turns freely by proceeding as follows (Fig. 3):
ensure that the pump is disconnected from the electricity supply and implement the safety procedures stated in the manual;
turn the pump upside down;
insert a Torx screwdriver in the hole in the centre of the intake strainer;
turn the screwdriver clockwise and anti-clockwise 3-4 times to ensure that the impeller moves freely.
Free installation (Fig. 4)
Use the hose union to connect the pump's outlet to a hose having internal diameter at least equal to that of the outlet. A hose with reinforcing
coil or of semi-rigid type is recommended to ensure that the free passage remains constant even at bends in the hose or points where it changes
direction. Secure the hose to the union by means of a metal band clamp.
Permanent installation (Fig. 5)
Connect the electric pump to metallic or rigid tubing. We recommend you install a gate valve or a full flow ball check valve using a connection pipe
with the minimum length recommended in the valve user manual.The pump may also be connected to polyethylene piping using a special union.
REMOVING THE STRAINER (for DR-Steel only) (Figs. 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, 6e, 6f)
In DR-Steel versions the intake strainer can be removed by technical staff to enable fluid intake from down to 5 mm from the bottom.
This operation reduces the free flow of the electric pump.
To remove it, proceed as follows:
ensure that the pump is disconnected from the electricity supply and implement the safety procedures stated in the manual;
lie the pump on one side;
make a mark indicating the mounting angle of the strainer;
unscrew the 3 strainer retainer screws with Torx screwdriver of suitable size;
remove the strainer;
remove the plastic support ring, with the aid of pointed-tipped pliers if necessary. Never remove any other pump screws or components;
reassemble the strainer on the pump in the same position, aligning it with the mark made earlier. The strainer will now be retracted by about 1
cm compared to the standard configuration.
Take the greatest possible care to prevent the motor from overheating in any situation where the pump is not completely submerged.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (FIGS. 7-8)
All the procedures involved in connecting the unit to the electrical mains must be carried out by skilled, legally qualified staff.
When connecting three-phase models, connect the yellow-green wire to the ground first, then connect the other wires.
To protect the electric motor and ensure safety, connect the pump to a differential safety breaker with tripping current below 30mA.
Warning
The pump may be fitted with automatically-resetting thermal protection which prevents damage in the event of overheating.
Once the pump has cooled own, it restarts automatically.
Before installation, ensure that:
the power supply line is connected to ground and complies with the relevant legal requirements;
the power supply cable and the float switch cable (if installed) are not damaged.
CHECKING THE IMPELLER ROTATION DIRECTION (three-phase models only)
Before making the three-phase electrical connection, make sure the impeller rotation direction is correct.
Proceed as follows:
ensure that the pump is disconnected from the electricity supply and implement the safety procedures stated in the manual;
lie the pump horizontal on one side and prevent it from moving around using wooden wedges or by placing it inside its packaging with the
