Initial Cleaning
CAUTION!
❐ The device may have production residues on it. To avoid harmful effects to your health,
clean the device thoroughly before you use it for the fi rst time.
❐ Never immerse the device, the cable or the mains plug in water.
❐ Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device or the plates.
They may damage the device or the plates.
1. Clean the device and the grill plates with a soft, slightly damp piece of kitchen towel and a
little mild detergent. Then dry off the device well.
2. Before you prepare food for the fi rst time, you should initially heat up the device for a
few minutes WITHOUT any food in it in order to burn off any production residues that
may remain on the plates. This may cause an odour and smoke to be formed; this is not a
malfunction and is normal when the device is fi rst used.
Use
CAUTION!
❐ Danger of scalding! Steam may escape from the device. Be careful when opening or clos-
ing the device.
❐ Make sure that you do not overfi ll the device. Do not press down the upper grill plate / lid
with force.
❐ The device will become hot during use! We recommend that you use oven gloves when
you place food on the grill plate / remove it or open / close the lid.
❐ Use kitchen implements made from heat-resistant wood or plastic in order to preserve
the coating on the grill plates.
❐ Make sure that the cable does not come into contact with hot surfaces during use.
❐ Operate the device in the closed state in order to prevent overheating of the device.
TIP: The device can be used with both a folded-up and folded-out base. Fold out the
base if you want the device to tilt forwards so that the fat from the food can fl ow
better into the fat collecting tray. This is advisable with food containing fat and water
such as burgers, cutlets and steaks etc.
Fold up the base if you want the device to be horizontal. This is recommended par-
ticularly when preparing paninis or toasted sandwiches etc.
Preheating
Allow the device to heat up for a few minutes fi rst before each use.
1. Place the closed grill on a stable, fl at, heat-resistant surface.
2. Fold over the base if you want the device to tilt forwards so that frying fat can fl ow away
better into the fat collecting tray (e. g. when cooking burgers, cutlets, steaks etc.). Leave
