13. UNAUTHORIZED USE OF HOIST
EQUIPMENT
Safe use of the altotir™ hoist will be ensured by
following the instructions given in this manual. The
following unauthorized actions are strictly prohibited:
Do not:
1. Use the hoist described in this manual, even
occasionally, to lift persons.
2. Use the hoist if it has not been inspected for more
than 1 year.
3. Suspend the hoist to a structure which is not
sufficiently strong.
4. Lift or lower loads if you do not have uninterrupted
eye contact with the load.
5. Use the hoist with any wire rope other than a
genuine Tractel
wire rope.
®
6. Use the hoist for operations other than those for
which it is intended, or with installation configurations
other than those described in this manual.
7. Use the hoist beyond its working load limit stop.
8. Rig the load to the hoist frame and the wire rope
hook to a fixed point.
9. Rig the hoist by its carrying handle.
10. Operate the hoist without having previously checked
that the stop is in place and operational. Operate
the hoist without having previously checked that the
hinges and tie rod show no sign of rough usage,
deformation or corrosion.
11. Operate the hoist without first ensuring that the limit
stop is correctly in place.
12. Attempt to lift fixed or blocked loads.
13. Apply any lateral pulling action on the loads.
14. Connect the hoist to a power outlet without first
ensuring that the characteristics of the power
outlet comply with those of the hoist and that the
necessary regulatory electrical safety devices are in
place on the power circuit.
15. Use the hoist with pulley blocks.
16. Pull a load along the ground.
17. Force a maneuver with a wire rope blocked inside
or against the hoist.
18. Use the hoist bearing on its base tube without
correctly wedging it on a sufficiently strong host
structure.
19. Use the wire rope as a sling.
20. Allow the load to swing under the hoist.
21. Take position or move around under the load.
22. Bring your hand or any other part of your body near
to the warping drum.
23. Bring your hand or any other part of your body near
the limit stop lever.
24. Use the hoist without first making sure that all the
safety equipment operates correctly.
25. Use the hoist for any other purpose than vertical
load lifting.
26. Secure the hoist to a host structure by any other
means that the mounting clamp supplied (Fig. 1,
item 8).
27. Use the hoist in an explosive environment (device
not compliant with a ATEX directive).
28. Use the hoist at temperatures of less than 10 °C or
greater than +50 °C.
29. Use the hoist when the wind speed is greater than
50 km/h.
30. Use the hoist under lighting conditions which are
not sufficient to have a clear view of the entire lifting
path.
31. Use the hoist in an aggressive environment, in
particular in a marine or in a chemically corrosive or
saline environment.
32. Repeatedly, successively press on the control
buttons.
33. Maneuver the hoist by its electric power supply.
34. Perform any modification to the equipment not
described in this manual.
35. Use a high pressure cleaning device, or chemical
products (acids, chlori nated products), to clean the
hoist.
