Adjusting the touch sensitivity of the jog wheel

1) Switch off the player with the POWER switch
(33).
2) Keep the button SINGLE / REM (21) pressed
and switch on the CD / MP3 player again.
Release the button SINGLE / REM when the
display shows
3) Read the value of the digits (A) on the left of
the bar graph. When moving your hand over
the jog wheel, the reading must increase.
4) On the left of the insertion
(B) show the value adjusted for the sensitiv-
ity. Set the sensitivity to the reading plus 2
with the knob TRACK / TRIM (4).
5) To store the setting, press the button
MEMO (8).
6) Switch off the player, then switch it on again.
7) If the Scratch function does not work correctly
despite the modified setting, increase the
sensitivity value once again.

5.11.3 Effects Flanger, Filter, Echo, Pan, Chop

1) Select the desired effect with the button
SELECT (18) [the effect name beneath the
display lights up] and then activate the effect
with the button ON / OFF (17). The text line
(Q) shows the basic setting of the two ad -
justable effect parameters:

2) To change the effect parameter of which the
reading keeps flashing in the text line while
replaying a title, turn the jog wheel (12).
3) To set the other parameter, press the button
RELAY (9) first. The following parameters are
adjustable:

) and the effect intensity from 0 – 100

FILTER: the frequency range filtered out
(adjusting range -60 to +60: the further away
the value from the neutral position 00, the

0 – 100
ECHO: the echo time from

4) To deactivate the effect, press the button ON/
OFF once again. The modified effect para -
meters remain stored after the effect has
been deactivated. They are not reset to the
basic setting until the player is switched off.

5.11.4 Start-up / braking effect

This effect simulates a slow start-up and braking
of a turntable platter.
1) Press the button BRAKE (10). The text line
(Q) briefly shows
start-up time and the brake time are 6 sec-
onds (basic setting).

2) To change the time (0.5 – 6 seconds), keep
the button BRAKE pressed while turning the
jog wheel (12).
3) If the function for constant pitch has been

5.11.5 Droning effects

1) Neither the LED SEARCH nor the LED
SCRATCH above the button JOG MODE
(11) may light up; if they light up, press the
button JOG MODE once or twice.
2) If the function for constant pitch has been
activated with the button MT (27), deactivate
the function.
3) Turn the jog wheel (12) back and forth to
increase or decrease the replay speed alter-
nately. This creates a droning effect.

5.11.6 Stutter effects

The Cue points stored with the buttons CUE (13)
and CUE / LOOP 1 – 4 (6) [
also suitable to create interesting stutter effects:
Briefly press one of these buttons repeatedly to
create a stutter effect. The more suitable the Cue
point (e. g. start of an instrument or beginning of
a word), the more impressive the effect.

5.11.7 Replaying a continuous loop

A certain section of a title can be repeated as a
seamless loop as many times as desired.
1) Press the button
When you have reached the desired starting
point of the loop (point a in fig. 4), briefly
press the button A (24).

Hint: To define the starting point with the precision
of 1 frame, first press the button
to pause, precisely select the point with the jog
wheel (12), then press the button A.
2) When you have reached the desired end of
the section (point b in fig. 4) while the replay is
continued, press the button B / EDIT (24). The
section between the points is continuously
repeated. As long as a continuous loop is
replayed, the display indicates RELOOP (S).

3) To displace the end point or to define it with
the precision of 1 frame, press the button B /
EDIT while replaying the loop. The time indi-

press the button RELOOP / EXIT (24). To
restart the loop, press the button RELOOP /
EXIT once again.

Note: As long as the three buttons A, B / EDIT and
RELOOP/ EXIT are illuminated, it is possible to restart
the loop. The loop is deleted, e. g. when you switch
between CD and USB or when you switch off the player.

1) Keep the button MEMO (8) pressed and turn
the jog wheel (12) to adjust the length. The
length is indicated in the text line (Q), e. g.
AUTO 2 / 1
= two beat lengths. After this
adjustment, the button MEMO is illuminated
to indicate that the end point of a section is
automatically set.
2) Press the button A (24) to define the starting
point. Thus, the replay of the loop is started at
the same time and the end point is set
according to the length adjustment.
3) It is also possible to change the length of the
section later, as described above (step 3 or 4).
B – Saving continuous loops
On each of the buttons CUE / LOOP 1 – 4 (6), a
Cue point (chapter 5.8.1) or a continuous loop
can be stored.
1) Press the button MEMO (8) while the contin-
uous loop is replayed. The button MEMO is
illuminated and the buttons CUE / LOOP 1 – 4
are illuminated with the following colours:
Red = button not assigned
Green = Cue point stored
Orange = loop stored
2) Press one of the buttons CUE / LOOP on
which the loop is to be stored. A Cue point or
loop already assigned to the button will be
overwritten.
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each loop to be
stored.
4) The buttons CUE / LOOP can now be used to
start the corresponding loops. To exit a loop,
press the button RELOOP / EXIT (24).
