3. Place a towel or a shallow container under the filter unit. This will prevent any water spilling
onto your cabinet or stand and damaging it.
4. Disconnect the tap connector from the head unit.
5. Fill a bucket with water from your aquarium and take it to the sink or wherever you intend to
clean your filter. Keep in mind cleaning your filter can be messy; cleaning is recommended outside
or at a sink. Ensure the area is clean and free from soaps and detergents.
6. Open the filter. Release the 4 clips and remove the head unit. Place it somewhere safe where
it will not be trodden on or broken.
7. Remove the filter recharges and replace them if necessary. Always use Tecatlantis original
CleanBox filter recharges to ensure correct operation and filtration.
8. The impeller should also be cleaned every time the filter is cleaned.
9. Turn the main unit over and rotate the
impeller locking cap clockwise and remove it.
10. Then carefully remove the impeller as
it is engaged by magnetic forces and may
offer slight resistance. Clean the impeller
and rinse thoroughly with water.
Caution:
never submerge the filter head in
water for cleaning purposes. Use a damp cloth
to clean components that cannot be submerged
in water.
11. Pull the rubber cap and the ceramic shaft
off the impeller and run water through the hole.
Clean any debris that may have accumulated.
12. Pull the rubber cap off the impeller shaft
and run water through the hole. Clean any
debris that may have accumulated.
13. With the same brush, wipe the inlet of the
tube running from the base of the unit.
14. Replace the rotor and make sure it rotates
freely on the shaft. Then check that there is
no water in the power cord and turn on the
main unit. Make sure the rotor rotates freely
and turn it off. Reassemble the filter unit. Apply
a safe lubricant to the aquarium in the O-ring
of the main unit for a better water seal and
make it easier to remove the filter head the
next time the filter needs to be disassembled
for maintenance.
15. Check the inlet and outlet pipes and hoses. If they have accumulated residues, place them in
the container with water and pass hot water through them. Run a double-barreled brush through
them and rinse again with hot water. Accumulation of waste will greatly reduce the flow rate of
your filter, so clean it whenever possible.
16. Whenever you do the maintenance of the filter, check that the seals are in good condition.
If necessary, replace them.
17. Fit the filter head correctly and close the side clips to ensure their tightness. Replace the filter
