VENT SCREW

Variations in internal pressure due to temperature or
environmental variations (air travel, etc.) can quickly lead to
major delamination problems. To avoid this phenomenon
on Boards that have a sandwich construction type, which
are the most sensitive to it because they are very rigid,
we provide a vent screw.
This screw is equipped with a membrane that allows
air to circulate between the heart of the board
and the surrounding air but remains waterproof.
Our Boards are delivered with vent screw already installed.
It is advisable to check its presence and tightness with a
16mm socket before using your Board for the first time,
without forcing or overtightening it, which could cause
it to snap. Apart from this check, it is not necessary to
touch this screw except in exceptional cases where
your Board is exposed to important and brutal pressure
variations. Typically, during a plane ride, in the sun
without a cover on the roof or in a car in the sun...
all those situations that your Board hates.
On these occasions, be sure to remove the screw with a 16mm socket wrench with 12 sides.
This screw is present on the deck of your Board or inside the carrying handle.
Don't forget to put the screw back in before using your Board in the water! Failure to do so will cause water
to enter and weight gain of several kilograms in your board and GONG cannot be held responsible for any
damage caused.
Rinse the membrane of the vent screw regularly.
Do not over-compress the O-ring of the screw when tightening it, otherwise it will not be watertight.
If there is any doubt about the screw: replace it with a new one.
