HEAT
Never leave your Board exposed to direct sunlight, it's not its friend. Understand that no Board likes the sun.
It accelerates its ageing. Epoxy resin, for example, will lose its qualities at 30°C above its factory hardening
point. Knowing that we bake all our Boards at 50°C to limit this phenomenon, you should note that the skin of a
Board in the sun easily passes 90°C. Enough to seriously damage it in a few minutes. The resin becomes soft
again and peels away from the foam... For polyester resins, they will yellow very quickly and become brittle...
So, put your Board in a protective bag as soon as you get out of the water, and in the shade, ideally.
The worst: in a car in the sun. A car in the sun is a steam room. Temperatures can be extreme there very
quickly and can cause delamination of your Board. A few minutes behind a window is enough to destroy your
Board, the magnifying glass effect being lightning fast.
In these conditions, a cover is not a sufficient protection.
A Board that delaminates has a soft area with a bulge: the skin is peeled off the foam.
If you notice this phenomenon, contact a repairman (list available on our Forum). Delamination is a serious
problem that is not covered by the Warranty.
Note that a Board that is heavily exposed to a heat source and immersed in cool water may contract very
violently. The composite skin will wrinkle and the result will be catastrophic since it will remain frozen like this.
Finally, a Board that has been heated and has lost its qualities will be much more sensitive to all other traumas.
You will have to face many more problems later on.
