The different types of fibers:
• Fiber Glass: it is the base, very tolerant and effective for an infinity of uses.
• Carbon: the ultimate in terms of response, but fragile and expensive.
• Flax: almost ecological because 80% of it is produced in France but 95% is woven in Asia... We like or hate
its look, but it is mechanically a beautiful intermediary between glass and carbon.
• Basalt: an emerging fiber among others and surely promising.
Caution : Polyester resin melts the EPS foam and does not adhere to the epoxy resin.
Note : People sometimes imagine that the layers on
their Boards are a centimetre or more in thickness.
This is impossible and it's a fantasy because in this
case your Board would be much heavier (five to ten
times heavier in monolithic construction for example).
Boards don't break on their own. "I didn't do anything"
is not possible.
Vibrations, for example, do not break Boards. You
probably don't notice an impact, because the Board
hits another one at the end of the leash while you
were being rolled in the washing machine, because
you were focused on something else.
It is likely that the shock in question seems minor
compared to the damage. In short, a composite has
its rules and nothing breaks without an outside force.
So, the question is, is the trauma in question covered
by the Warranty? In any case, repairing a Board is a
simple and will end up almost invisible when well done.
It is therefore not a tragedy. These concerns must
be approached calmly and with hindsight.
A Board will get dinged up, it's normal. They will
be repaired and this will not affect its qualities. A
ding does not call into question the good design
of your Board.
