2 Safety Notes

The units (microphone, active speaker, plug-
in charger) correspond to the directive for
electromagnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The plug-in charger additionally corresponds
to the low voltage directive 73/23/EEC.
Attention! The plug-in charger is supplied
with hazardous mains voltage
(230 V~). Leave servicing to
skilled personnel only. Inexpert
handling may cause an electric
shock hazard. Furthermore,
any guarantee claim will expire
if one of the units has been
opened.
Please observe the following items in any
case:
Only charge rechargeable nickel cad-
mium batteries with the plug-in charger.
Dry batteries are not rechargeable and
charging them may result in leakage or
explosion!
The units are suitable for indoor use only.
Protect them against humidity and heat
(admissible ambient temperature range:
0 – 40 °C).
Do not operate the plug-in charger or
immediately disconnect the plug from the
mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the plug-in
charger or to the active speaker,

2. if a defect might have occurred after a
unit was dropped or suffered a similar
accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the units must be repaired by
skilled personnel.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by
no means chemicals or water.
If the units are used for other purposes
than originally intended, if they are not
operated in the correct way or not re-
paired by skilled personnel, no liability for
any damage will be accepted.
If the units are to be put out of operation
permanently, take them to a local re-
cycling plant for disposal.
Dead batteries or defective rechargeable
batteries do not belong in the household
rubbish: Always take them to special
waste disposal (e. g. container at your
retailer).
3 Application
WAP-3 has especially been designed for
amplification of speech picked up via the
microphone. Due to the practical belt strap
the amplifier can be tied round the waist so
that the person using the waistband ampli-
fier is always free to move in any direction.
This makes WAP-3 ideal for lectures,
instructions, sports trainings, etc.

4 Power Supply

1) Open the battery compartment on the
rear side of the active speaker.
2) Insert six (rechargeable) batteries of
size AA according to the imprint in the
battery compartment and close the bat-
tery compartment.
Attention! Never connect the plug-in
charger (7) if batteries are
used, which are not re-
chargeable.
3) With rechargeable batteries that have
recently been recharged or with new
batteries the active speaker can be
operated for approx. 6 – 8 hours.
4) If the unit is not used for a longer period
(e. g. more than a week), the (recharge-
able) batteries should be removed. This
will ensure that the active speaker is not
