Notes on use
A
The standard cuff fits an upper arm circumference of 22 to 32 centimetres.
The device covers pressures up to 300 mmHg and a pulse rate of 40 to 200 beats per minute.
Method of measurement
This product uses the oscillometric method for measuring blood pressure and pulse rate. The cover
is connected to the device and placed round the arm as shown on the diagram on the cuff. When
the Start/Stop button is pressed, the system starts to build up pressure automatically.
Within a very short space of time the device records the small oscillations within the cuff, which
occur owing to expansion and contraction of the arteries in the arm (heart beat). The automatic
build-up of pressure usually stops at approx. 40 mmHg above the systolic level to be expected
(fuzzy logic). Then the measuring process proper starts by letting air out of the cuff. The amplitude
of each pressure wave is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg), converted and displayed on
the LCD in the form of a digital value. Systole, diastole and pulse are established and after that the
cuff is completely deflated.
A memory stores the last 30 results for the purposes of comparison.
