Thank you for placing your trust in our company by purcha-
sing the Weller PCB holder WBH 3000 / WBH 3000S.
Production was based on stringent quality requirements
which guarantee the perfect operation of the device.
Caution!
Please read these Operating Instructions and the attached
safety information carefully prior to initial operation. Failure
to observe the safety regulations results in a risk to life and
limb.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for damage resulting
from misuse of the machine or unauthorised alterations.
The Weller PCB Holder WBH 3000 / WBH 3000S corresponds
to the EC Declaration of Conformity in accordance with the
basic safety requirements of Directives 89/336/EEC and
73/23EEC.

2. Description

The WBH 3000 PCB Holder was designed as the basic devi-
ce for supporting PCBs. The extended version WBH 3000S
includes an additional tripod for the clip on the hot air hand
piece WHA 3000. Furthermore, the PCB holder can also be
provided with a bottom heater (WHP 3000 hot plate). The
combined components create a professional repair system
for PCBs with high-pole fine pitch components.*
Optional devices/accessories
WHA 3000P
Hot Air Station
WHA 3000V
Hot Air Station for compressed air or nitro-
gen operation.
WHP 3000
Infrared Hot Plate

3. Assembly WBH 3000S

1. Install tripod column (10) with mounting screw M6 (18).
2. Tighten clamping lever (13) of soldering head. Insert pre-
assembled soldering head from above into the column
until it makes contact with the set collar (15).
3. Rotate soldering head in front position until the locking
lever (12) engages.
4. Secure soldering head with clamping lever (14).
5. Using clamping lever (13), move horizontal position of sol-
dering head into desired position and secure.
6. Insert hot air hand piece (4) in clip (5). Secure supply hose
(8) with flap (9).
7. Connect proximity switch connection line (11 ) to hot air
control unit
(see Operating Instructions WHA 3000P / WHA 3000V).

8. Slide the bottom heater (Hot Plate WHP 3000) from the
front under the PCB holder, or place the PCB holder over
the hot plate. Make electrical connections in accordance
with the Operating Instructions for WHP 3000,
WHA 3000P / WHA 3000V.

4. Operation

Once the clamping screws (17) have been released, the arms
of the PCB holder can be moved and the PCB to be repaired
can be inserted. By pushing both arms in x-direction and the
PCB on the holder in y-direction, the component to be repai-
red is aligned with the hot air nozzle and / or bottom heater.
Both arms are then secured again with the clamping screws
(17). Move the soldering head in horizontal direction (13) if
necessary. The use of the PCB stop (16) allows PCBs to be
replaced in the exact position.
The swivel lever (6) is used to lower and raise the soldering
head. In lower position, the depth stop of the soldering head
must be set with the knurled screw (7). When the soldering
head (6) is lowered, the hot air nozzle (3) must only make
light contact with the component and must not exert exces-
sive pressure on the PCB.
In raised position, the soldering head can be swivelled to the
right or left out of the working area. To do this, the clamping
lever (14) must be released and the soldering head must be
unlocked by pulling the interlock lever (12). When the solde-
ring head is swivelled, the hot air is switched off automati-
cally by an integrated contact, or switches to standby mode.
When swivelled back, the soldering head engages in solde-
ring position once again.
The soldering process is usually started with the hot air nozz-
le raised to preheat the system.
A universal PCB repair of SM components requires effecting
preheating of the PCB from below and targeted heating of the
components to be repaired from above up to reflow tempe-
rature, in conjunction with a reliable process control system.
With the WHP 3000 hot plate, the temperature controlled, 2-
zone, infrared bottom heating ensures fast heating and
homogenous temperatures. The hot air top heater WHA
3000P / WHA 3000V with digital control electronics for tem-
perature monitoring and air-volume control guarantees a
finely metered thermal energy supply to the components.
