long distances found on these

OPERATION
Preparation
Power Cable: For better operati-
on, the loco and tender should be
connected with the included
power cable.
Plug the power cable in the
lighting socket on the front of the
tender and in the socket on the
rear of the loco.
Hint: To remove the cover of the
socket, pull it straight out. If the
cover is tight, gently use a small
tool, like a small straight screwdri-
ver, to pry it out. (Do not pull out
the rectangular outer housing.)
Coupler: Place the tender on the
track first, and then, place the
loco on the track, with the loco
coupler hook engaged in the ten-
der coupler loop.
Multi-Train System
This model has two "D" gearboxes
and direct decoder interfaces. It
can be equipped with two LGB
Multi-Train
System
(55020).
For more information, contact
your authorized LGB retailer or an
LGB service station (see Factory
Service). We recommend factory
installation of decoders (see Fac-
tory Service).
Hint: The decoders are plugged
directly into the circuit boards of
the loco (in the boiler) and the
tender. If you install the decoders
in this loco yourself, be sure to set
the six miniature "DIP" switches in
the loco and the four "DIP" swit-
ches in the tender to the "OFF"
position.
Lighting
This model has automatic direc-
tional lanterns on the front and
the rear of the loco.
This model has a "flat" multi-pur-
pose socket, with a removable
cover, on the rear wall of the ten-
der. This socket can be used to
provide track power to cars with
lighting and sound electronics. To
remove the cover of the socket,
pull it straight out. If the cover is
tight, gently use a small tool, like
a small straight screwdriver, to
pry it out. (Do not pull out the rec-
tangular outer housing.)
