Warnings
1. Always place desoldering tools not in use in the original holder.
2. Do not place any flammable objects near the hot desoldering tool.
3. Antistatic plastics are be treated with conducting material to prevent static charging. This
reduces the insulation properties of the plastic.
4. Work must not be performed on parts that are powered.
Adaption Possibility for Left Handers
Through detaching the 4 flange screws (see page 14) the desoldering iron can be twisted
against the handle by 120°.
As soon as the screws are removed, only turn the desoldering iron but do no draw out of the
handle as this could damage the heating element.
After twisting the desoldering iron by 120°, fasten the flange-screws. Now the desoldering
iron is ready for use with the left hand.
Cleaning DS 22 / DS 80
To obtain good desoldering results, it is important to regularly clean the desoldering head.
This includes emptying the solder collecting container, replacing the glass tube filter, as well
as checking the seals. Correct sealing of the front faces of the glass cylinder ensures full
suction performance. Dirty filters affect the air flow rate through the desoldering tool. To
clean the suction nozzle bore and the suction tube, use the cleaning tool (5 13 500 99).

easily; a suitable tool is integrated into the cleaning tool. The thread on new suction nozzles
should be smeared with „Antilocking paste".
Only change suction nozzles when hot.
To avoid the suction nozzle seizing solid with the heat, the suction nozzle should be unscrewed
regularly and the thread smeared with „Antilocking paste".
In the case of a very dirty thread or a broken suction nozzle, the repair can be performed as
follows:
1. Drill out with 4 mmø drill, maximum 11 mm deep.
2. Recut the thread with an M 5 / 12 – 24 UNC 2A tap, remove swarf.
3. Smear new suction nozzle with antilocking paste and screw in place.

Various suction nozzles solve many desoldering problems. A suitable tool for changing the
suction nozzle is integrated into the cleaning tool (5 13 500 99). The suction nozzles can be
straightforwardly and quickly changed using a short rotational movement (approx. 45°C).
When inserting and locking the suction nozzle, press gently against the heater element.
