6.3 Remote control LC-3
GB
The remote control LC-3 available as an accessory
allows to control various functions. There must be no
DMX signal at the DMX INPUT (4).
1) Connect the remote control to the jack REMOTE
CTRL ONLY (6).
2) Via the DMX OUTPUT (5), further PARL-4SET units
may be connected (
trol them together with the master unit via the re-
mote control.
3) With button STAND BY (20), the LEDs of the PARL-
4SET can be switched on or off. When the LEDs are
switched off, the LED next to button STAND BY will
light up as a check.
4) Use button MODE (22) to select the desired function:

7 Operation via a light controller
For operation via a light controller with DMX512 proto-
col (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB by "img Stage
Line"), the PARL-4SET is equipped with 16 DMX con-
trol channels. However, if required, it can be controlled
via 13 or 4 channels only. The functions of the chan-
nels and the DMX values can be found on page 18.

7.1 DMX connection
For the DMX connection, the unit is provided with
3-pole XLR jacks of the following pin configuration:
Pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
A 10 m DMX connection cable is supplied with the unit.
For further connections, special cables for high data
flow should be used. Standard microphone cables with
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 × 0.22 mm
and with a capacity as low as possible can only be rec-
ommended for a total cable length of up to 100 m. For
cable lengths exceeding 150 m it is recommended to
insert a DMX level matching amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX
by "img Stage Line").
1) Connect the DMX INPUT (4) to the DMX output of
the light controller.
2) Connect the DMX OUTPUT (5) to the DMX input of
the following light effect unit; connect its output
again to the input of the following unit, etc. until all
light effect units have been connected in a chain.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX unit in
the chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W): Solder the
resistor to the pins 2 and 3 of an XLR plug and con-
nect the plug to the DMX output or use a corre-
sponding terminating plug (e. g. DLT-123 by "img
Stage Line").
7.2 Adjusting the number of DMX channels
To be able to operate the PARL-4SET with a light con-
troller, the DMX start address (
number of DMX channels must be adjusted. The num-
ber of DMX channels depends on the functions re-
quired and possibly also on the number of the control
channels available. Chapter 10.1, page 18, shows
information about the functions which are possible for
the operation with the following number of channels: 4,
13, and 16. Select the number of DMX channels
chap-
accordingly:
1) Press button MENU (13) so many times until the
display (10) shows
sure that the next button is pressed within 60 sec-
onds, otherwise the adjusting process will end.
2) Press button ENTER. The number of DMX chan-
nels is shown in a flashing way.
3) Use button DOWN or UP to adjust the number of
DMX channels and memorize it with button ENTER.
reappears on the display. After 60 seconds
the PARL-4SET returns to the previous function
mode. For faster switching-over keep the button
MENU pressed until the display shows the function
mode.
7.3 Adjusting the start address
To be able to operate the PARL-4SET with a light con-
troller, adjust the DMX start address for the first DMX
channel. If e. g. address 17 on the DMX controller is
provided for controlling the function of the first DMX
