Dead batteries do not belong in the household rubbish;
always take them to a special waste disposal (e. g. col-
lecting container at your retailer).
3 Setting into Operation
The multimeter is switched on by turning the rotary switch
away from the OFF position to any range. If there is no dis-
play, at first insert a battery. For this open the multimeter:
1) Loosen the two screws at the rear side and remove the
cover while watching the two latches at the upper edge.
2) Now in the battery compartment a 9 V transistor battery
is clamped at the battery cable with the correct polarity.
3) Then the multimeter is closed again after the two upper
latches have been inserted again.
The multimeter has 3 measuring jacks:
1. The lower jack COM is the common (-) jack for all
measurements. Here the black cable is plugged in.
2. The central jack V Ω mA is the common (+) jack for all
measurements except for current measurements above
200 mA. Here the red measuring cable is plugged in.
3. For current measurements of more than 200 mA the red
cable must be plugged into the upper jack 10 A DC.

If the meter is to be put out of operation defini-
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.
