6.1.2. Requirements for Downstream Evaluation
• 2-channel safety input, suitable for 2 PNP semiconductor outputs
• Digital inputs per EN 61131-2, table entitled "Standard Working Ranges for Digital Inputs (current pulling)"
• The self-tests conducted by the Guard Locking Device by cyclically switching off the safety outputs for up
to 2 ms (typically < 1 ms) must be tolerated by the evaluation unit.
• The off phase of the test cycle is minimized by means of active ohmic conductor discharging.
• Detection of the cross-section as part of the evaluation is unnecessary and should be deactivated if
applicable.
• If the Guard Locking Device is linked to relays or non-failsafe control components, a risk analysis must be
conducted.
• If the safety sensor is connected to electronic safety- monitoring modules, we recommend that you set a
discrepancy time of min. 100 ms. The safety inputs of the safety-monitoring module must be able to blank
a test impulse of approx. 1 ms.
6.1.3. Series Connection
• It's possible to set up a series connection.
• Response and risk times remain unchanged in this case.
• The number of devices is only restricted by external conductor protection in accordance with the technical
data and power loss.
DANGER!
• The safety chain must be evaluated and laid out by the user in accordance with the
relevant standards and regulations depending on the required level of safety.
If several sensors are involved in the same safety function, the PFH values of the
individual components must be added up.
NOTE!
• The entire concept of the control system, in which the safety component is integrated,
must be validated to the relevant standards.
