2. Use for Intended Purpose
This wenglor product is intended for use in accordance with the following functional principle:
Electromagnetic Guard Locking Device
The Guard Locking Device is designed for use in electrical safety circuits and functions as a position monitor-
ing and locking device for movable guards. A door detection sensor monitors the closed condition of the safety
guard. Optional, adjustable latching force is activated as a result of detection of the actuator when the door
is closed. Latching force supplied by the permanent magnets hold the door closed even in the deenergized
state (approx. 15 N).
The different variants can be used as safety switch with interlocking function either as guard locking device.
If the risk analysis indicates the use of a monitored interlock then a variant (SD4ICS0xSE89) with the
monitored interlock is to be used, labelled with the
S1xSE89) is a safety switch with an interlock function for process protection.
NOTE!
In accordance with EN ISO 14119, the safety switches are classified
as type 4 interlocking devices.
SD4ICS0xSE89 (variant with monitored lock):
The safety function consists of...
• Reliable monitoring of a magnetic force
• Reliable shutdown of the OSSDs if a defined magnetic force is fallen short of
• Reliable retention of the OSSDs in the off state when the guard is open/unlocked.
SD4ICS0xSE89 (actuator monitored variant):
The safety function consists of...
• In safe shutdown of the OSSDs when the guard is being opened,
• Reliable retention of the OSSDs in the off state when the guard is open/unlocked.
WARNING!
Guard locking devices based on the operating current principal may only be used in special
cases after strict evaluation of the risk of accident, because the guard can be directly
opened in the event of a power failure or if the mains switch is actuated.
