Mask with adaptable head harness
Insert the adaptable head harness with the bolt into the hole of the
adapter holder of the full face mask and push into the clamp until it snaps
in.
For spectacled persons: Integrate corrective glasses into the full face
mask.
Place chin in chin support.
Place the harness over the head and pull back until the front strap sits
tight.
Adjust the full face mask. Tighten the neck straps evenly. Tighten the
temple straps evenly. If necessary, especially for small heads, additionally
tighten the front strap.
Open the chin strap of the protective helmet.
1)
Put on the protective helmet
.
Adjust the full face mask, close the chin strap of the protective helmet.
Only tighten the chin strap sufficiently so as not to deform the full face
mask. The chin strap can also remain open when wearing the full face
mask.
Let a second person check that the full face mask is properly seated.
Leak test
Seal off the mask connector and breath in until a vacuum is created. Hold
your breath for a moment. The negative pressure should be maintained.
Repeat the leak test twice.
Never use a mask that leaks!
Exhalation valve check
Seal off the mask connector and breath out strongly. The exhaled air must
be able to escape unhindered via the exhalation valve, if not see "Visual
inspection of exhalation valve".
Use with respiratory filter
Prerequisites: The ambient air must contain at least 17 % vol. oxygen.
Never enter unventilated tanks, pits, canals, etc. when wearing filter
equipment. The type of contaminant must be known, select respiratory filter
accordingly.
Screw in the respiratory filter: Completely remove sealing tape and firmly
screw in respiratory filter in a clockwise direction.
Duration of use: The duration of use depends, amongst other things, on
the type and concentration of the contaminant and the type of filter.
Extreme operating conditions
At low temperatures: Protect visor from the inside with anti-misting gel
1)
"klar-pilot"
.
At high temperatures: If the visor is damaged leave the hazardous
environment immediately.
For chemicals: Some substances, e.g. H
absorbed by the material of the full face mask, in particular silicone, and
might also diffuse.
In explosive environments: Treat the full face mask with antistatic spray or
use a water screen.
During Use
Additionally protect the folded down helmet visor against:
— unintentional detachment of the adapters
— heat and flames
— low temperatures
— mechanical damage.
After Use
Removing the mask/helmet combination
Mask with helmet
Tilt the helmet visor upwards.
Open the chin strap, to do so press the black catch.
Remove the full face mask: Press both buttons of the adapter locks, pull
out the adapter tabs and remove the full face mask.
Remove the protective helmet.
Dispose of respiratory filter appropriately
Mask with adaptable head harness
Tilt the helmet visor upwards.
Open the chin strap, to do so press the black catch. Remove the
protective helmet.
Remove the full face mask: Place the index fingers behind the shackles
of the neck straps, push the clamping buckles forward with the thumbs
and at the same time pull the full face mask away from the face over the
head.
Dispose of the respiratory filter appropriately

Cleaning, disinfecting, drying
Only use approved cleaning and disinfecting agents!
Cleaning: Clean the full face mask after every use. Do not use solvents
such as acetone, alcohol, etc. for cleaning. Clean the full face mask with a
cloth and lukewarm water mixed with an all-purpose detergent, e.g.
2)
Sekusept Cleaner
. Rinse thoroughly under running water. Concentration:
1 %, reaction time: 30 min.
Disinfecting: Disinfect the full face mask after every use. Immerse the full
face mask in a disinfectant bath. Use the disinfectant Incidur
disinfectant concentrations and reaction times can damage the full face
mask! Rinse thoroughly under running water. Concentration: 2 %, reaction
time: 15 min.
Machine cleaning and disinfection: with Eltra
Drying: Shake off water from the full face mask. Allow residual moisture to
dry in a drying cabinet or in the air. Max. temperature 60
the mask to direct sunlight.
After every cleaning: Check the full face mask for leaks.
Testing
Test the full face mask after every use or after every service and repair.
Test device and test accessories: Test device (R 53 400), adapter
(R 53 344), exhalation valve plug (R 53 349), mask holder HC
(AG 02 408) – optionally adaptable head harness (R 53 285).
Visual inspection of the speech diaphragm: Speech diaphragm and O-
ring must be clean and undamaged, otherwise clean or replace (see also
"Test and maintenance intervals").
Visual inspection of the inhalation valve: The inhalation valve is visible in
the mask connector. Check by blowing whether the inhalation valve discs
move freely. If stuck, replace.
Visual inspection of the exhalation valve: Remove the protective cap from
the mask connector and pull out the valve disc. Valve disc and seat must be
clean and undamaged, otherwise clean or replace. Moisten valve disc with
water and insert.
Leak test: Moisten the sealing frame from inside with water and fit onto the
test head. Inflate test head until the sealing frame makes contact
throughout. Seal the mask connector with the R 54 344 adapter. Generate
a negative pressure of 10 mbar. The full face mask is considered leak-proof
when the pressure change after 1 minute does not exceed 1 mbar. If not,
proceed with:
Testing with sealed exhalation valve: Remove the exhalation valve disc.
Insert the exhalation valve plug R 53 349, it must snap in. Generate a
negative pressure of 10 mbar. For pressure change of less than 1 mbar
after 1 minute: Remove exhalation valve plug, insert new valve disc and
repeat leak test. If not, proceed with:
Leak test under water: Immerse test head and full face mask in water.
Generate approx. 10 mbar overpressure and slowly turn test head under
the water surface. Escaping air bubbles indicate the source of the leak.
Remove test head and full face mask from the water, seal leaking points.
Remove exhalation valve plug R 53 349 and fit exhalation valve disc.
Repeat the leak test.
After testing: Remove adapter R 54 344. Remove full face mask from the
test head and dry if necessary. Attach protective cap, it must snap in.
Special Servicing
Check for leaks again after servicing and/or replacing parts.
Replacing the lens
Unscrew the screws from the adapter holders holding the hexagonal
nuts.
Remove both adapter holders.
Pry the lens frame apart with a screwdriver at the connecting points, then
pull off the top and bottom parts.
If necessary, remove the support plate (see "Replacing the mask
connector"). Detach the old lens from its rubber frame.
Insert the new lens first in the upper and then in the lower part of the
rubber frame. The centre marks on the disc should be aligned with the
seam on the mask body. Pull the rubber frame over the edge of the lens
on the right and left. Moisten the outside of the rubber frame and the
inside of the lens frame with soap solution.
Push on the upper, then the lower lens
frame.
If necessary, insert support plate.
Screw the screws into the hexagonal nuts
and tighten until the gap between the
tightening cams is 3 to 0.5 mm.
