Tee joint
When welding a tee joint, the edges of both details must be melted identically. To obtain this, provide more heat
to the flat surface as the edge melts faster. Use a ceramic nozzle of the size and length of the non-consumable
electrode to obtain the shortest arc possible. The filler metal must be added to the welding puddle at its begin-
ning.
Corner connection
In case of a corner connection, both edges of the welded elements must melt, and the welding puddle must be
kept in the centre of the connection line. Such a connection requires a convex weld and, thus, a large amount of
filler metal.
5.4 Aluminium welding with TIG method in AC mode
Aluminium welding with the TIG method in AC mode provides better results in the AC alternating current
mode. To start welding, clean the edges of the welded material thoroughly, removing contamination by means of
chemical agents or mechanically. It is preferable to use argon, 5.0 cleanliness class, as the shielding gas. Depending
on the material thickness, select electrode diameters (see table below). It is recommended to use green tip
electrodes for aluminium welding, potentially gold electrodes.

When using the inverter technique, it is possible to apply additional adjustments facilitating welding: AC
current balance and AC frequency. All TIG AC/DC welders have both these adjustments. Balance adjustment is
done by means of CLEAN SCOPE and CLEAN WIDTH parameters (functions no. 10 and 11 on the control
panel - see description in chapter 5) for welders Ampero 225:
CLEAN WIDTH
