Additional safety notices concerning the operation of petrol engines
Safe handling of fuel
#
•
In order to prevent personal injury or material damage, you must be particularly careful
when handling fuel.
•
Fuel is highly flammable. Its fumes are explosive.
•
Do not smoke cigarettes, cigars or pipes in the work environment and extinguish all poten
tial fire sources.
•
Only use approved fuel containers.

Allow the engine to cool down before refilling with fuel.
•
Never refuel inside a building.
•
Never store the machine or the fuel container close to open fire or potential sources of
sparks.
•
Never fill fuel containers inside a vehicle, on a lorry or a covered trailer.

Always place the container on solid ground for filling, at a safe distance from the vehicle.

Heated petrol expands. Do not fill the fuel tank to the brim but leave some room so warm
petrol can expand.
•
The fuel cap is equipped with a ventilation slot for petrol fumes to escape.

Before filling the tank with petrol, turn the engine off and let it cool down for several minu
tes.
•
Remove wood shavings and other debris from the machine. Keep the machine clean. This
will increase its performance.
•
The engine, gearing mechanism and exhaust silencer will become very hot within a few
minutes of the engine starting. Do not touch these components under any circumstances.
