Caution! NEVER turn sharply at high speed as this can make the scooter unstable. The maximum speed should
be set at 50%.
Reversing
Before reversing, make sure that the area behind the scooter is clear of any obstacles or hazards. Set the speed
to low before reversing. Keep clear of all corners, angles and obstacles.
Caution! Do not reverse on a main road.
Ramps / Slopes
The stability of your scooter depends on factors such as the height of the seat, the angle of the slope, and the
height and weight of the user. When approaching a slope, do so directly and not at an angle, and avoid turning
whenever possible.
Driving surfaces
Your scooter will perform well on many surfaces. However, avoid long grass, loose gravel, sand, mud and ice.
Transfer
Raise the armrest on the side you wish to transfer to. Use a balance aid if necessary. DO NOT use the handlebar
or armrests to support the full weight during transfers.
Batteries and battery chargers:
Batteries
Fully charge the batteries (8-12 hours) before using for the first time.
The TRAVELER PLUS uses two AMP 20Amp, 12V batteries.
The batteries are located in battery pack compartments under the front of the seat. They are easily removed by
simply lifting them out using the handle(s) on the top, removing the right-hand side battery pack first). Always
make sure that the batteries are correctly repositioned before using them.
Low temperatures, uneven terrain and the user's weight can affect battery performance. Your battery gauge
only serves to determine the charge level remaining in your batteries and will give you its best indication when
the scooter is in motion.
Note: Only batteries recommended by the manufacturer MUST be used if they are to be replaced, ONLY an
authorised TRAVELER PLUS dealer can carry out battery replacement.
Battery charger
The battery charger is a 6 amp outboard switch mode charger. The battery charging port is located on the front
of the battery box (see picture below). Before using your scooter for the first time, make sure you fully charge
the batteries, this can take up to 12 hours.
To charge the batteries, plug the charger's 3-pin male plug into the charging sockets - see below. Plug the 3-pin
mains plug into a wall socket and switch it on. A steady red LED lights up when the battery charger is connected
and charging is in progress. The green LED lights up when the charging cycle is complete. Always switch off the
charger before disconnecting the plug from the battery casing.
Caution! Do not charge batteries for more than 12 hours. Always charge the batteries in a well-ventilated
indoor area. You must continue to charge the batteries even if the scooter is not to be used for an extended
period (2 to 3 weeks). Failure to do so may result in permanent damage and render the batteries unusable.
