Storing rechargeable batteries
Note: Rechargeable batteries last the
longest when they are well cared for
and, above all, stored at the correct
temperatures. However, with increas-
ing age, the capacity decreases even
when stored correctly. A significantly
reduced operating time despite a full
battery indicates that it has been used
up.
• Leaving the battery in an empty state for a
long time may damage it and greatly
reduce its capacity.
• Charge batteries before storage to avoid
damage and deep discharges. The opti-
mum charge level before storage is
around 70%.
• If stored for a very long time, check the
charge level regularly; recharge the bat-
tery if necessary.
• Store batteries in dry and well-ventilated
rooms.
• Protect batteries from moisture and water.
• If possible, store batteries in the following
locations:
– in rooms with smoke detectors;

rectly. The product can be returned free of
charge in accordance with the legal require-
ments, for example through a municipal
waste disposal company or a dealer.
Batteries, rechargeable batteries and
lamps that are not permanently
installed in waste electrical equipment
and can be removed in a non-destruc-
tive way must be removed and disposed of
separately before disposal of the equipment.
Lithium batteries and rechargeable battery
packs of all systems are only to be handed in
to the waste collection points in a discharged
state. The batteries must always be protected
against short circuits by taping off the poles.
