– Check the oil quantity in the tank.
– Start the device.
– Hold the running saw chain approx. 15 cm
over a suitable surface for a time (15 s).
If there is sufficient chain greasing, the oil
spraying off of the saw chain will form a slight
trail.

NOTICE! Environmental damage!
Since the saw chain oil can penetrate
the environment during operation,
biologically-degradable special vege-
table-based saw chain oils should be
used.
– Lay device securely with the tank
cover (28) upwards.
– Before opening, clean the tank cover and
the filler neck if necessary.
– Slowly open and remove the tank cover.
– Carefully fill up the saw chain oil. Do not
spill!
– Read the oil level at the inspection
glass (29). The oil stand must be placed
between [MIN] and [MAX].
– Tighten the tank cover by hand.
– If you have spilled any saw chain oil, be
sure to wipe it up.
Operation
Charging the battery pack
Note: Rechargeable battery and
charger are not part of the scope of
delivery and are available optionally
from your dealer (► Accessories –
p. 68).
CAUTION! Risk of injury! Comply
with all safety instructions when han-
dling rechargeable devices.
NOTICE! Risk of damage to the
unit! Do not allow the battery pack to
deep discharge.
NOTICE! Risk of damage to the
unit! Do not press the On/Off switch
after the device has deactivated auto-
matically.
Note: The Li-Ion battery pack can be
charged at any time without affecting
the lifetime of the unit. Interrupting the
charging process will not damage the
battery pack.
Note: If the battery is fully loaded, the
charger automatically switches over
to the maintenance charge function.
The battery can thus remain in the
charger permanently.
The battery pack must be charged prior to the
first start-up (charging time: ► Technical
data – p. 68).

– Press in the locking button (19) and
remove the battery from the device.

– Insert the battery pack into the charger.
– Plug the charger into the power supply.
The charging status is displayed by the con-
trol lights (20).
– Slot the battery pack into the device and
make sure it clicks into place correctly.
Checking the remaining capacity of the
battery
– Press the button (9).
The remaining capacity of the battery is dis-
played by the control lights (8).
Adjusting the length of the telescopic
rod

WARNING! Risk of injury! Before
each use, make sure that the tele-
scopic rod is securely clamped and
cannot come loose during operation.
– Loosen the locking lever (3).
– Pull out telescopic rod (10) of desired
length.
– Tighten the locking lever (3) again.
Adjusting working position of the drive
unit

WARNING! Risk of injury! Before
each use, make sure that the drive
unit is fully engaged and cannot come
loose during operation.
– Press unlock button (11) and bend drive
unit (2) until it clicks into place.
Check before use!
DANGER! Attention, danger of

part has become defective, make
sure to replace it before you use the
