• Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and
fingers encircling the chain saw han-
dles, with both hands on the saw and
position your body and arm to allow
you to resist kickback forces. Kick-
back forces can be controlled by the oper-
ator, if proper precautions are taken. Do
not let go of the chain saw.
• Do not overreach and do not cut above
shoulder height. This helps prevent
unintended tip contact and enables better
control of the chain saw in unexpected sit-
uations.
• Only use replacement bars and chains
specified by the manufacturer. Incor-
rect replacement bars and chains may
cause chain breakage and/or kickback.
• Follow the manufacturer's sharpening
and maintenance instructions for the
saw chain. Decreasing the depth gauge
height can lead to increased kickback.
Safety information for pole-mounted

from obstacles. Do not allow the tip of the

to operate the chain saw. The same
applies to persons who are not or not well
enough acquainted with the chain saw.
• The operating instructions should always
be within easy reach.
• Persons suffering from fatigue or who are
not physically fit must not operate the
chain saw.
• Keep the handles dry and free from
grease. Slippery handles can cause acci-
dents.
• Keep a firm hold of the electrical tool
with both hands while working and
make sure you are standing firmly.
The electrical tool is more safely guided

• Do not use any accessory that has not
been provided and recommended by
the manufacturer specially for this
electrical tool. Just because the acces-
sories can be fixed on your electrical tool,
no secured use is ensured.
• Remember that moving parts may also be
located behind ventilation and venting
slots.
Safety information for hedge trimmers
• Keep all parts of the body away from
the blade. Do not remove cut material
or hold material to be cut when blades
are moving. Blades continue to move
after the switch is turned off. A moment of
inattention while operating the hedge trim-
mer may result in serious personal injury.
• Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle
with the blade stopped and taking care
not to operate any power switch.
Proper carrying of the hedge trimmer will
decrease the risk of inadvertent starting
and resultant personal injury from the
blades.
