Performance Engine Control kits, a control interface cable and flash drive. The calibration loaded into the Transmission Control Module (TCM)
comes with 2 calibrations - normal and Sport. Each of these calibrations can be tuned by using the supplied software (flash drive) and a laptop, for
customization. The transmission interface cable has a single license and will be "matched" to the transmission's TechM (controller) upon initial use.
It will not function on any other transmission.
The transmission harness does not have provisions for power, ground, etc and must be used in conjunction with a Chevrolet Performance engine
wire harness. The transmission interface cable and flash drive are not required to be used for vehicle operation, only for transmission
programming (tuning). The transmission does not come filled with fluid and must be filled before operation.
The tap up/tap down feature works with the transmission gear selector in the "drive" position and the next position one click below. Typical
shifter applications have indents for PRNDX, some may have 1, 2, or 3 additional indents below the "drive" position. In the "drive" position, tap is
available if the vehicle speed is greater than 7 Mph/12 Kph. Tap will automatically exit after 10 seconds with no activity or if the vehicle speed
drops below 7 Mph/12 Kph. If the gear selector is one "click" down from "drive", the transmission will go into the Sport mode calibration first. This
calibration will still automatically shift through all the gears, it just uses the Sport calibration shift and pressure tables. When the gear selector is
one of the "X" positions, the first time the transmission receives a tap request, the transmission will go to full tap mode. It will remain in tap until
the shifter is moved back to the "drive" position or the tap up is held for 3 seconds. If the gear selector is moved into the 2nd or 3rd indent below
"drive", the transmission will not shift/operate correctly. Do not operate the transmission for extended periods of time with the gear selector in
the 2nd or 3rd indent down from the "drive" position.
The transmission has been updated for higher torque capability as well as a cooler line adapter block to allow the user to use custom cooler lines.
The adapter comes with #6 AN fittings. The adapter has been installed and no modifications are required for proper function. The transmission
does not come with a fluid level indicator or tube. The transmission must
have an indicator/tube installed to properly fill the transmission with oil. A 2016 Silverado service indicator and tube can be used or another
equivalent indicator assembly.
The transmission harness includes the following connections:
6L80 Transmission (required)
Transmission Output Speed Connector (required) - provides Vehicle Speed Signal to the ECM
Chevrolet Performance Engine wiring harness (required) - referred to as the "bulkhead" connector
Blunt cut Brake Switch Wire (not required)
Tap up/tap down function/paddle shift and floor shift connector (not required)
Gauge driver connector (not required)
Optional connector (not required)
Blunt cut wires for Speedometer, Oil Pressure & Engine speed (Tach) outputs (not required)
The required connections for operation are the transmission, Chevrolet Performance engine wire harness, and the Transmission Output Speed
Connector (vehicle speed sensor). All other connections are not required to be used but can be used to increase functionality.
The transmission does not come with a gear selector. A gear selector with at least 2 forward selectors is needed. The second detect below D is
used to enable the Sport Calibration and/or tap up/tap down/paddle shift capability. The transmission will not shift/operate correctly with the gear
selector in the 2nd or 3rd indent position.
