6. STOPPING THE PUMP

■ Prior to disconnecting the water fittings, make sure the pump has stopped.
■ Never disconnect the fittings when the pump is running.
□ If the delivery hose is equipped with a valve, stop the engine before closing the valve. [Fig. 48]
STOPPING THE ENGINE (GASOLINE)
1. Move speed control to Idle position; [Fig. 29 or 30]
2. Turn the ON/OFF switch to OFF (STOP) position; [Fig. 31]
3. Close the fuel cock; [Fig. 32 or 33]
4. Slightly pull the starter rope until it becomes a bit difficult. Let it come back to initial position.

IN CASE OF LOW TEMPERATURE (≤ 0°C)
After stopping the engine:
1. Remove the drain plug from the pump body; [Fig. 35] (except MECA 8/15 EX and
MECA 16/20 EX)
2. Drain the water from the body pump; [Fig. 36]
3. Empty water from suction and discharge pipes.

7. MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

environment), perform maintenance more often.
