Operation to perform
Control all the components listed in section «PRE
OPERATION CHECKS»
Check the tightening of bolts, screws and nuts
Check the oil level and top up if necessary
Make sure the water filter is clean
Replace the engine oil (following the 20 first
operating hours)
Clean the air filter (following the 20 first operating
hours)
Replace the air filter
Clean the spark plug and adjust the electrode gap,
if necessary
Control the fixing of the pump to the engine
Control the sealing of the connections
Replace the spark plug
Drain the water, clean the filter and the tank of the
fuel cock
Replace the fuel filter
Replace the fuel pipes
Clean the carbon deposit from the cylinder head
and piston face
Control and adjust the valve clearance
Change the antivibratory mountings
Clean and adjust the carburettor
Have the engine overhauled (if needed)
Lubricate the pump rod bearing
(MECA 8/15 EX, MECA 16/20 EX)
Check suction and delivery check valves
(MECA 8/15 EX, MECA 16/20 EX)
Check and refill gear box grease
(MECA 8/15 EX, MECA 16/20 EX)
Remove the pump casing and clean
(except MECA 8/15 EX, MECA 16/20 EX)
8. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
8.1. CHANGING ENGINE OIL
The engine oil must be changed for the first time following the first twenty (20) operating hours. Then
change engine oil every 50 hours. Before replacing the oil, find out the best way to discard used
oil. Never discard this oil in sewers, in a garden or in waterways. Please refer to local discard and
environment regulations as they provide detailed instructions.
