Section 9 Troubleshooting
Problem
The conditioned sample
is less than pH 10.2.
The measurements are
not stable.
The measurements are
not accurate.
Water is leaking from a
small vent hole on the
top of the measuring
cell.

Possible cause
The venturi nozzle has a
blockage.
Note: The venturi nozzle
mixes the sample with the
conditioning solution vapor
before the sample enters the
measuring cell.
The sample flow rate is
not stable.
The movement of the
cleaning beads is not
regular.
Unwanted material has
collected on the active
surface of the electrodes.
There is a blockage in
the drain tubing.
Table 2 Diagnostics/Test menu
Description
Shows information about the ultrapure amperometry module that is in the controller.
Shows the device name and the serial number entered by the user.
Shows the number of days since the last calibration was done.
Shows a list of calibrations by date/time stamp. Use the arrows keys to select a
calibration, then push OK to show the details.
Shows the current device signal information.
Contact technical support to have the blockage removed.
Replace the inline filter. Refer to
on page 21.
The manufacturer recommends that a 100-µm filter is
installed on the sample supply line.
If the sample flow rate is changed, a new calibration must
be done.
The sample flow rate must be stable. If not, the number of
molecules on the surface of the working electrode will
continuously change.
Clean the cleaning beads. Clean the active surface of the
working electrode with a soft cloth.
The movement of the cleaning beads must be regular. If
not, the number of molecules on the surface of the working
electrode will continuously change.
Clean the active surface of the reference, working and
counter electrodes with a soft cloth. Refer to the reference
electrode documentation for cleaning instructions.
Note: The counter electrode is the metal disc above the working
electrode in the measuring cell.
To remove orange and/or black metallic deposits, use
nitric acid (10% V/V).
If the sample supply contains dissolved iron and/or
manganese oxides, install a magnetite filter on the sample
supply line.
Remove the blockage from the drain tubing.
Solution
Replace the inline filter
