PREPARING THE WALL
NOTE: The supplied mounting bar is sized to the mirror and gives some allowance for horizontal alignment. The mounting bar will have
countersunk holes pre-drilled at 2" (51 mm) intervals. Additional #8 countersunk holes can be drilled in the mounting bar to align with
the location of structural members (stud, etc.) in the wall, if needed.
NOTE: The mounting bar requirements below will insure that a proper, secure installation is met.
At least one screw in the mounting bar MUST be installed into a structural member.
•
•
At least two screws must be used to attach the mounting bar to the wall.
1.
Using the diagram on page 4, mark the desired centerline for the mirror as well as a horizontal line for the mounting bracket height.
2A. Make sure that the mounting bar is level when securing it to the wall. Use the #8 X 1-1/2" screws [203-1435] provided to attach the
mounting bar flat to the wall, shimming behind the screw locations as needed. Pre-drill a 1/8" (3 mm) pilot hole when attaching
directly to a structural member.
1
2B. If structural supports are not available in each mounting location, follow these wall anchor instructions:
1. Drill a 1/4" (6 mm) hole into drywall/wallboard, tile, plaster, brick, or concrete.
2. Insert the wall anchor into the hole. Tap until the wall anchor flange is flush with the wall.
3. Insert a #8 x 1-1/2" screw [203-1435] through the mounting bar hole and then into each wall anchor [203-1436] and tighten until
flat to the wall, shimming behind the screw locations as needed. Check for level.
4. Once flat to the wall, continue to tighten each screw, turning at least four revolutions as shown. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
