3) Set the selector switches for the oper-
ating mode (10 and 11) to the required
positions . Only use the switches when the
amplifier has been switched off!
On model STA-2000D, these switches
are available for the channel pairs 1/ 2 and
3 /4 . Thus, the channel pairs can be used
differently .
For the bridge mode, set the switch OPER-
ATING MODE (10) to the position BRIDGE .
For the stereo mode of model STA-1000D,
select the position STEREO; for the sin-
gle-channel mode of model STA-2000D,
select the position NORMAL .
When the bridge mode has been activated,
use the switch BRIDGE MODE (11) to define
the impedance of the speaker connected or
the total impedance of the speaker group
connected (4 Ω or 8 Ω) . Even when the im-
pedance is higher than 8 Ω, set the switch
to the position 8 Ω .
Important: For the stereo / single-channel
mode, always set the switch to the position
"8 Ω" .
4) For the 100 V PA mode, make the follow-
ing settings and connections:
a) Set the switch(es) OPERATION MODE to
the position BRIDGE .
b) Set the switch(es) BRIDGE MODE to the
position "8 Ω" .
c) Connect the PA speakers to the output
jack(s) BRIDGE .

5) For power supply, use the mains cable
provided to connect the mains jack (5) of
the amplifier to a socket (230 V/ 50 Hz) .
After connecting the blue PowerCon plug
of the mains cable to the mains jack, turn
the plug clockwise until it engages . To re-
move the plug, pull back the latch on the
plug and turn the plug counter-clockwise .
Important: A PowerCon plug must not be con-
nected or disconnected while voltage is applied .
Therefore, first make the PowerCon connection
and then connect the unit to the mains socket;
likewise, disconnect the unit from the mains
socket prior to disconnecting the Power Con
connection .
6 Operation
Hint: To prevent switching noise, switch on the
units connected to the amplifier before switching
on the amplifier . After operation, switch off the
amplifier before switching off the units connected .
1) Before switching on the amplifier for the
first time, set all volume controls (2) to zero
so that the volume will not be too high .
Before switching on the amplifier, always
make sure that the selector switches OP-
ERATING MODE (10) and BRIDGE MODE
(11) have been set to the correct position,
 chapter 5, step 3 .
2) Use the POWER switch (4) to switch the
amplifier on and off . After switching on,
the yellow power LED ON (3) will light up .
In addition, the red LED PROTECT will light
-
up for a few seconds . During this time,
+
the amplifier will be muted to prevent any
switching noise (switch-on delay) . When

+
green LED BRIDGE will light up to indicate
-
this mode .

3) Use the volume controls (2) to adjust the
desired volume . The green LED SIGNAL (1)
will light up when a certain volume has
been reached . In case of overload of a chan-
nel, the corresponding red LED CLIP (1) will
light up . Turn back the control accordingly .
CAUTION Never adjust a very high
volume . Permanent high
volumes may damage your
hearing! Your ear will get
accustomed to high volumes which do
not seem to be that high after some time .
Therefore, do not further increase a high
volume after getting used to it .

7 Protective Circuit

The protective circuit will prevent damage
to the speakers and to the amplifier . When
the protective circuit has been activated, the
speakers will be electrically separated from the
amplifier . The red LED PROECT (3) will light up
1 . for approx . 3 seconds after switching on
(switch-on delay)
2 . in case of a short circuit at a speaker output
(9 or 12)
3 . in case of a DC voltage at a speaker output
4 . in case of overload of the amplifier
When the red LED PROTECT lights up during
operation or when it is not extinguished after
switching on, always switch off the amplifier
and eliminate the fault .
In case of overheating, the red LED OVER-
HEAT will light up . Switch off the amplifier and
let it cool down . To continue operation, reduce
the output power (turn back the volume con-
trol) or improve the ventilation of the amplifier
(e . g . insert a ventilation unit into the rack) .
