3 Intended Use
The Battery pack is intended to supply electrical power to the patient monitor. The patient monitor is also capable of charging the battery if
the patient monitor is connected to the mains power supply.
The Tempus Pro with the Battery pack installed is intended for use by clinically qualified personnel only.
The Tempus IC2 with the Battery pack installed is intended for use by non-clinically qualified personnel.
If a battery cell leaks, make sure that the liquid does not come into contact with the skin. Use a lot of water to
l
immediately wash the skin that has come into contact with the spilt liquid, and seek medical attention.
If all the battery lights remain off when the battery button is pressed, the battery may be in a "deep discharge" state. The
l
battery is not damaged when in this state but will require an extended period on charge (additional 24 hours) in order to
restore normal operation.
3.1 Description
The Tempus Pro Battery pack is a component of the Tempus Pro and the Tempus IC2 Patient Monitors. The Battery pack is designed to
be installed in only one direction, this design ensures that the Battery pack is installed with the correct polarity.
The user must use the stand-alone battery charger to charge the Battery pack when it is not installed in the patient monitor.
Important
Check the battery status at least twice per year. If the Tempus Pro is being used regularly then the battery should be
l
checked monthly, weekly or daily depending on the frequency of use.
Completely discharge and recharge the battery at least once a year.
l
Older batteries will have a shorter battery life than those of new batteries. Replace as required.
l
If the battery charge shows less than 25%, we recommend you recharge it. However batteries can be used until they are
l
fully discharged without damaging the Patient Monitor.
Do not use batteries from previous RDT products because they will not fit.
l
If you start the Tempus Pro using an empty battery or leave a battery in a low or empty state for a prolonged period it may
l
enter a deep-discharged state. In this state it will take longer to recharge the battery. Monitor the remaining battery life to
avoid the battery being too weak to power the Tempus Pro for the duration of an incident.
The battery life should be monitored periodically when the device is in storage and also before and after use.
l
New batteries should be charged for at least 4 hours on receipt.
l
Using the battery down to the point where it is completely discharged will not cause any hazards or damage to the system.
l
The Battery Packs must only be used with the correct patient monitor. The Battery pack for the Tempus IC2 has orange trim that is the
same colour as the Tempus IC2.
