Commissioning and handover
Ensure loose parts are fitted in accordance with the instructions at page 20: 'Vermiculite fire brick installation
sequence' demonstrated to the owner. Operation of primary and secondary air control sliders must be fully
explained.
On completion of the installation allow a suitable period of time for any fire cement and mortar to dry out. A
small fire may be lit and the installation checked to ensure that the smoke and fumes are taken from the stove
up the chimney and emitted safely to the atmosphere. Do not run at full output for at least 24 hours.
On completion of the installation and commissioning ensure that the operating instructions for the stove are left
with the customer. Ensure to advise the customer on the correct use of the appliance with the fuels likely to be
used on the stove and warn them to use only the recommended fuels for the stove.
Advise the user what to do should smoke or fumes be emitted from the stove. The customer should be warned
to use a fireguard according to BS 6539 in the presence of children, aged and/or infirm persons, when the stove
is in use and not in use. The glass on the stove is ceramic glass and is able to withstand very high temperatures.
However, it is not toughened and a hard impact could cause the glass to break.

WARNING: CO Alarm
Your installer should have fitted a CO alarm in the same room as the appliance. If the alarm sounds unexpectedly,
follow the instructions given under "Warning Note" on page 18.
Fireguard
The use of a fireguard in the presence of children, aged and/or infirm people is essential for their safety, even when
the stove is not in use. The fireguard should be manufactured in accordance with BS 8423:2002, Fireguards for use
with solid fuel appliances. The glass on the stove is ceramic glass and able to withstand very high temperatures.
However, it is not toughened and a hard impact could cause the glass to break.
Initial lighting
The heat-resistant paint on your stove will cure and harden the first time you light your appliance. The curing process
produces a good deal of smoke and odour and it is therefore important that the first time you light your stove the
room should be well ventilated.
During the process it is important to open and close the stove door periodically (every 30 mins) during the first
couple of firings to prevent the door seal cord around the door from sticking and coming away from the door. Once
the heat-resistant paint has hardened; the stove door must be kept closed except when lighting the stove, adding
firewood or removing ash in order to prevent flue gas from escaping.
Lighting your appliance
Quality firelighters should be used when lighting the stove (never use methylated spirit, petrol or other
flammable liquids). Lighting your stove with fire lighters will be more reliable and easier than with paper.
To light your stove
We advise our customers to light the stove by the inverted method (upside down) to reduce emissions on lighting.
1.
Place two small dry split logs (¼ split) on the fire bed. Kindling as shown
in the picture which allows combustion air to flow freely and to aid ignition.
The combined weight should not exceed 1.3 kg. On top of the kindling add
two or more non toxic firelighters.
2.
Fully open the primary air slide in the ash pan face and the secondary lever
below the ash pan by pulling it out fully - see page 13. This provides the stove
with a mix of primary and secondary air to help establish the fire.
