Hazards due to noise
If adequate hearing protection is used a high
noise level can result in permanent hearing
damage, loss of hearing or other problems
such as Tinnitus (ringing, whizzing, whistling
or buzzing in the ears). It is essential that a
risk assessment is performed with reference to
these hazards and suitable control mechanisms
implemented.
Suitable risk reduction control mechanisms
include measures such as the use of insulation
material to prevent ringing noises occurring at the
workpieces.
Use hearing protection equipment according to
the instructions of your employer or as required
by the health and safety regulations.
The threaded fastener tool must be operated and
maintained according to the recommendations in
this manual, to avoid an unnecessary increase in
the noise level.
If the threaded fastener tool has a silencer, it must
be ensured this is fitted when the tool is being
used and that it is in a good working state.
The consumables and the tool bit must be
selected, maintained and replaced according to
the recommendations of this manual, to prevent
an unnecessary increase in the noise level.
Hazards due to vibrations
Vibrations can cause damage to the nerves and im-
pairment of the circulation in the hands and arms.
Keep your hands away from the sockets of the
nut wrench.
When working in a cold environment, wear warm
clothing and keep your hands warm and dry.
If you detect that the skin on your fingers or
hands becomes numb, tingles, aches or becomes
white stop working with the tool, inform your
employer and consult a doctor.
The threaded fastener tool must be operated and
maintained according to the recommendations in
this manual, to avoid an unnecessary amplifica-
tion of the vibrations.
Do not use any worn or poorly fitting sockets and
extension bars, because it is extremely likely that
this will lead to a considerable amplification of
the vibrations.

Special safety instructions
The consumables and the tool bit must be
selected, maintained and replaced according to
the recommendations of this manual, to prevent
an unnecessary amplification of the vibrations.
Where possible sleeve fittings must be used.
Wherever possible use a column, clamp or an
equaliser to support the weight of the tool.
Do not hold the tool too tightly but with a secure
grip while maintaining the necessary hand reac-
tion forces because the risk of vibration generally
increases with increasing gripping force.
Additional safety instructions for
pneumatic tools
Compressed air can cause serious injuries.
If the tool is not in use, before exchanging acces-
sories or when performing repair work, always
shut off the air supply, depressurise the air hose
and disconnect the tool from the compressed air
supply. Never direct the air flow towards yourself
or anybody else.
Flailing hoses can cause serious injuries.
Therefore always check whether hoses and their
fastenings are undamaged and have not come
loose.
Direct cold air away from the hands.
Do not use quick-release couplings at the tool
inlet with impact and impulse drives. Only use
threaded hose connectors made from hard-
ened steel (or a material of comparable impact
strength).
Ensure that the maximum pressure indicated on
the tool is not exceeded.
f universal rotational couplings (claw couplings)
are used, lock pins must be used together with
whip-check hose clips to provide protection in the
event of failure of the hose connection to the tool
or of connections between hoses.
For torque-controlled tools with continuous rota-
tion, the air pressure has safety relevant effects
on the performance. Therefore hose length and
diameter requirements must be specified.
Never carry air tools by the hose.
