1. Brief description of the system
The Quadro F12-SIL is a warning light for the signalling of dangerous situations in safety relevant applica-
tions, e.g. as an intrinsic part of an E/E/PE system (according to EN61508). Optical warning signals with high
light intensity and short duration, with a maximum flash energy of 10 Joules can be generated. This allows
for very good detection over great distances with only low power consumption. A distinct attention effect for
people is reached by the high difference of luminance to the surrounding area. The flashing light is concept-
ed for use in buildings as well outdoors. Driving rain and condensation do not damage it.
The generation of the optical warning signal (see Fig. 1) is monitored internally by an optical sensor and
corresponding evaluation circuit. If an optical warning signal is generated, a relay activates permanently with
forcibly guided contacts. A fault can be interpreted with a superior control.
