Warning
Danger of accidents The Factory Start actuator may freeze up in cold weather.
If the actuator freezes while Factory Start is activated, the fork will not decompress fully.
The greatly reduced suspension travel impairs the handling characteristic.

Check that the actuator moves easily before activating the Factory Start.

Activate the Factory Start shortly before starting.

Preliminary work
–
Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand (see Owner's Manual).

Remove the right fork protector (see Owner's Manual).
Assembly
–
Select one of the three pre-marked points and drill a
mounting hole with an appropriate drill at a diameter of
24.5 mm (pre-drill to 20-22 mm).

The farther downwards the fork is drilled, the more
the fork is pretensioned for the start.

Holding lock button
fork protector, position it in the hole and mark the four
smaller drill holes with a marker pen.

Drill the markings at a diameter of 5 mm using an appro-
priate drill (pre-drill to 2-3 mm).

Countersink the 5 mm holes from the inside with a 10 mm
drill either manually or by using a countersink. Countersink
far enough that the head of countersunk screws M5x8
(included) is approximately level with the fork protector.
