5.6. Maintenance/Cleaning
The pump is designed to have a low maintenance requirement and under normal conditions will be
very reliable. However, the filter housing and all rotating parts must be cleaned regularly. For
cleaning, first the filter basket has to be removed. The basket has to be hold on both marks and
then to be removed. If the basket is hold at other points (e. g. at the front), it cannot be removed.
Take care not to tilt it. The shaft may break.
Now, the entire impeller group can be pulled out. It can be cleaned under running water and then
be inserted again.
5.7. Failures
If the pump fails to operate, check the power connection. If no fault is found, the pump may be
blocked and must be cleaned – see maintenance / cleaning above. If the pump is noisy, the filter
basket and propeller have to be cleaned. When the pump is taken into operation the first time, it
has to run for approx. 24 hours. During this time, noise can occur that ceases later on.
6. Installation of trickle filter pump
The aquarium water flows into the skimmer chamber over a comb (Fig. 2, No. 11). From the
skimmer chamber, the water flows into the pre-filter where the removable sponge (Fig. 2, No. 2) is
located.
The water flows out of the pre-filter chamber into the trickle filter (Fig. 2, No. 4) via the
adjustment plate (Fig. 2, No. 12). The position of the adjustment plate controls the water level in
the skimmer chamber.
Warning: The adjustment plate should be adjusted that low that the water in the
skimmer chamber is directly beneath the foam cup!
After the trickle filter, there's the clean water compartment (Fig. 2, No. 5) where the pump
PF 1000 is placed that pumps the water back into the aquarium.
The water level in the PERCULA may not drop too much since otherwise the pump in the clean
water compartment sucks air in. Therefore, it is important to refill evaporated.water regularly. The
clean water compartment should not be completely filled with water since there is no circulation in
the top.
6.1. Features
The inside aquarium filter PF 1000 is very quiet in operation. It has a fully encapsulated
synchronous motor. All materials are salt-water resistant.
The ceramic shaft is nearly wear-resistant so that a long life span is guaranteed. The whole pump
can be disassembled for cleaning. All electrical parts are encapsulated.
