Microwave
6 OPERATION
This section describes how to operate the microwave, including how to set the clock, how to use the timer, and
how to use the microwave, convection, and grilling cooking methods .
I
The information contained within the following subsections is provided with the assumption that the unit
has been properly installed . See "Installation" on page 10 for details .
6.1 Reviewing important safety mechanisms
Failure to obey the following warnings could result in dangerous operation, property damage,
serious injury, or death:
• HIGH TEMPERATURE HAZARD:
– Do not attempt to operate this microwave with the door open, as open-door operation can result in
harmful exposure to microwave energy .
– Do not bypass or tamper with the safety interlocks .
– Do not place any object between the microwave front face and the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to
accumulate on the sealing surfaces .
– Supervision is required when the microwave is used by children . See "Child-proof lock" on page 13 .
– The contents of feeding bottles and baby jars should be stirred or shaken, and the temperature should be
checked before serving in order to avoid burns .
– Cooking utensils may become hot because of heat transferred from the heated food . Potholders may be
needed to handle the utensil .
– Use only thermometers that are specifically designed for use in microwave ovens .
– Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea, are able to be overheated beyond the boiling point without
appearing to be boiling due to surface tension of the liquid . Visible bubbling or boiling when the
container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present . This could result in very hot
liquids suddenly boiling over when the container is disturbed or a utensil is inserted into the
liquid .
– Do not overheat liquids .
– Stir liquids both before and halfway through heating .
– Do not use straight-sided containers with narrow necks .
– After heating, allow the container to stand in the microwave oven for a short time before removing the
container .
– Use extreme care when inserting utensils into containers with heated liquids .
• ELECTRICAL SHOCK, FIRE, AND/OR EXPLOSION HAZARD:
– Do not operate the microwave without the glass tray, roller support, and shaft in their proper positions .
– Do not cover or block any openings on the microwave .
– Do not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this microwave .
– Do not store anything directly on top of the microwave surface during operation .
– Do not immerse the power supply cord in water, allow it to contact heated surfaces, or allow it to hang
over the edges of tables or counters .
– Do not operate this microwave if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has
been damaged or dropped .
– This microwave must be grounded . Connect the power supply cord only to a properly grounded outlet .
See "Power supply cord" on page 8 .
– Do not overcook food . Carefully attend the microwave when paper, plastic, or other combustible
materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking .
