Never throw batteries into fire or
water.
Do not exert mechanical loads
to batteries.
Risk of battery leaking
In the event of a battery leak,
immediately remove it from the
device to prevent damage.
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes
and mucous membranes. In the
event of contact with battery acid,
thoroughly flush the affected area
with clean water and seek imme-
diate medical attention.
Avoid extreme conditions and
temperatures which may impact
batteries, e.g. radiators!
Remove the battery from the
device if it is not going to be
used for extended periods.
Risk of property damage
Use only the recommended
battery type!
When inserting the battery ensure
the correct polarity! This is indi-
cated on the battery compart-
ment cover.
If necessary, clean the battery
and device contacts before
inserting the battery.
Promptly remove drained batteries
from the product.

Before first use
Removing the insulation strips
Note: The product is supplied with the battery
already in place. Remove the insulating strip bet-
ween the battery and battery contacts before first
use.

If the scales do not appear to work, check that
the battery has been inserted correctly and
reinsert it if necessary.
Note: The display indicates when it is time to
replace the battery. When you step on to the
scales and the battery is too weak, the LC display
shows "Lo" (see Fig. D) and the scales switch
off automatically.
If you see this message, replace the exhausted
battery with a new battery of the same type.
When you insert the battery, make sure that the
contacts do not get bent.
Setting the units of weight
Note: The standard unit of weight is kilogram (kg).
The factory default setting for the scales as supplied
is "kg".
Press and hold the kg / lb switch
the weight unit. The units will be displayed in
the LC display as follows:
Kilogram (kg): see Figure B
Pound (lb):
see Figure F
