Comments
The "Other mech. parts" and "Other components" fractions comprise pumps, door
motors , etc., which cannot be weighed or divided up in the same way as other fractions.
Distribution
The machines are packed on wooden pallets and clad with wood and Masonite,
or wrapped in plastic. Users must make sure that the packaging material is sorted
and recycled .
Use
The flusher-disinfector affects the environment during its entire life cycle. Getinge
Disinfection 's assessment is that the supply of electric power and water are the two
largest environmental loads. Based on a service life of ten years and 7000 processes per
year, the machines consume about 1400 kWh of electricity and about 140 cubic meters
of water. About 35 litres of detergent is discharged into the sewerage system, depending
on the programs/doses used in the machine. To reduce the environmental impact the user
may use green electric power.
Waste disposal
The machines consist mainly of stainless steel, plastics/rubber/glass and other recyclable
metals. When the machine is scrapped the materials should be recycled. Cables/wiring
and printed circuit boards contain environmentally hazardous substances such as lead,
cadmium, PVC and brominated flame retardants, and must be recycled as electronic
scrap. Plastics and rubber must be sorted separately.
