Practical operation
Make sure that the wheels
of a wheelchair, bed, bunk,
etc. are locked during ope-
ration.
1. Fit the sling around the user. Make
sure the user's arms are on the
inside.
2. Suspend the sling from the hooks
on the slingbar.
Sources of errors/User sitting incorrectly
– Is the lifting sling the right size?
The lifting sling is too small if the
leg supports do not reach at least
halfway down the inside of the
thigh and the slingbar is too close
to the face.
– Is the lifting sling positioned cor-
rectly? The lifting sling may not
have been pulled far enough down
the back when being fitted round
the user.
– Are all the straps lifting simul-
taneously? If the sling straps lift
unevenly, the sling may slide up the
user's back, causing the user to slip
down into the sling hole.

3. Tension the straps of the sling wit-
hout lifting the user. Check that
the sling is correctly suspended
from the hooks and is correctly
fitted around the user.
4. Lift the user, taking care not to lift
him/her any higher than is neces-
sary.
– Ensure the leg supports are correctly
positioned on the thigh.
– Is the sling connected correctly
according to individual prescrip-
tion?
– Do separately connected leg sup-
ports increase the risk of the user
slipping out?
– If the user is wearing clothing made
of slippery material, does he/she
slide down/out of the sling more
easily?
