Specific Conditions of Use
• Lock the hinged cover using the bayonet ring if the plug is not inserted.
• The 8571/21 receptacle must not be used in an explosive dust atmosphere where high
electrostatic charging processes are present that could result in propagating brush
discharges. See IEC TS 60079-32-1 for additional guidance.
• The socket is suitable for connection to a 8571/22 plug of the same configuration and
electrical ratings.
• The flameproof joints cannot be repaired.

Application range
The receptacle 8571/21 is explosion-protected electrical equipment.
It is approved for use in hazardous areas which are classified acc. to NEC 505 for the
division or zone. For details, please see certification and the "Technical data" chapter.
It connects portable and stationary electrical equipment as well as electrical lines and
electrical circuits in hazardous areas.
