ELECTRODE WELDING (MMA PROCESS)
CONNECTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
• Connect the cables, electrode holder and earth clamp in the connectors,
• Respect the welding polarities and intensities indicated on the electrodes boxes,
• Remove the electrode from the electrode holder when the machine is not in use.
MMA WELDING PROCESSES
• MMA STANDARD
The MMA STD mode is recommended for most applications. It can weld any type of electrode : rutile, basic, cellulosic... and on any material: steel,
sutainless steel, cast iron. Please check the recommended polarity and welding current, which is specified on the electrodes packaging.
• MMA PULSE
The MMA Pulsed mode is recommended for upper vertical welding (PF). The pulse mode keeps the welding pool cold and eases the transfer of matter.
Without the pulse, vertical up welding requires a dififcult «Christmas tree» triangular movement. Thank to the MMA Pulsed mode, this movement is
no longer required and a simple straight up movement is enough (depending on the thickness of the weldpiece). If you wish to widen your welding
pool, a simple lateral movement is enough (similar to normal welding).
The background current phase and the pulse current frequency may be adjusted. The pulsation decreases the average current, so the base current
may be increased from 10 to 20%.
This process allows for greater control during vertical up welding.
• MMA AC
The MMA AC mode is recommended in some very specific cases when the arc is not stable or straight, which may happen around magnets (magne-
tised weldpiece, magnefic field in the vicinity).. The AC (alternative current) prevents electrical interference and keeps the stable under these circums-
tances. The pulse frequency is set to 50Hz. It is necessary to check that the electrode can be used with AC.
